Recent injuries have driven the brackets into even more of a tailspin then they were a week ago. Looking first at West Virginia point guard Darryl “Truck” Bryant who broke his foot in practice a day before their sweet sixteen debut this week. Although they are without their starting point guard, West Virginia is not going to go down easy. Their back-up point guard, Joe Mazzula, was the starting guard for the 2008 Mountaineers who made a run to the sweet sixteen as a 7 seed and continued to be the starter until his injury in 2009, which opened the position up for Bryant. Washington is on a hot streak but with the experience and size of this Mountaineer team I would take West Virginia not only straight up but will also take the spread of -4.5. The second injury that troubles some brackets, if not already demolished by the Kansas defeat, is the Michigan State loss of Kalin Lucas. Lucas was the orchestrator of this Spartan bunch and without him things are looking bleak. Michigan State already had a suspect perimeter game but without Lucas they are going to need to get the ball to their bigs around the rim. This is a tough one with the line being a pick’em but I think I will take the Spartans in this one despite the injury. There is always something about Izzo that you cannot deny during the postseason, he is a winner. So you heard it, West Virginia -4.5 and Michigan State -1.

I like Washington for some reason in this game. I do like the Spartans though.
Washington just did not have enough big guys, I could see West Virginia winning it all.
