The UFC 117 will be coming to Oakland, California this Saturday and the bookmakers are busy taking bets. Brobury Sports have set the odds for fight and they have been made public. If you are interested in placing a bet, you can do so today.

For the main event, Chael Sonnen will go head-to-head with Anderson Silva. The odds are -500 for Silva to remain the champion in the middleweight division. He is the man to beat, having been the middleweight champion since 2006. He bested Rich Franklin in that fight for the honors. Silva is considered to be one of the best fighters, pound-for-pound in the sport.

This fight against Sonnen, will be sixth time that Silva has defended his title. He is currently on a bit of streak, winning his last 12 fights. Though Silva is an excellent fighter, he doesn’t tend to be a big draw. People have their theories on why. Many individuals believe that it is because Silva doesn’t talk trash and the fact the he is so dominant somehow makes people less excited to watch him spar.

Sonnen, on the other hand, has plenty to say about this fight. He has been talking a lot of trash, not mincing his words in the least bit. Sonnen has an interesting history. He was once a star wrestler in the collegiate ranks. Since becoming a part of the UFC, he has posted a 3-1 record. He most recently beat Yushin Okami, Nate Marquardt and Dan Miller.

On the other ticket, Jon Fitch (-125) and Thiago Alves (-105) are sparring in the welterweight fight. They are two of the best in their weight class. This will be the second time that these fighter’s meet. Fitch won the first fight between the two in 2006.

Matt Hughes (+136) and Ricardo Almeida (-155) will fight in the other welterweight bout. Junior dos Santos (-325) and Roy Nelson (+250) will do battle in the heavyweight division.
